Please note The View Cypiro Leopard Lodge can only be booked for sole-use by you and your loved ones, and not on a room-by-room basis.
Cypiro Leopard Lodge comprises of the Manor house (sleeps 10), The View (sleeps 4), The Hacienda (sleeps 4) and two ‘pod’ style hideaways, Ebony and Ivory (each sleeps 2). Each dwelling can be booked in isolation, or together. This makes it the ideal destination for multigenerational families, friends reuniting, or just a couple of long-lost-lovers, to gather together in the beautiful, rugged terrain of the Waterberg, and allow an idyllic safari-life to ensue. Please read ‘The Area’ description to gain a better idea of just how idyllic it is here!
The View is really rather extraordinary – a contemporary apartment in the middle of the bush! Completely off-grid making it the ideal haven in nature to retreat to, without being interrupted by the effects of load shedding. It overlooks a lovely dam, with two glorious en suite bedrooms and stylish, open plan living and dining spaces of floor-to-ceiling glass – maximising on those 360-degree views of the Waterberg and National Park. Its expansive deck and tranquil swimming pool on the lower deck overlooks the land, as the giraffe, impala and zebra saunter by. The giraffes, as curious as they are, will keep you company and might sip from your pool. Being three meters off the ground, it feels as if you’re floating above the nature, elevated in the air with a bird’s eye view of the landscape. This is the perfect spot for couples or smaller groups to settle for a great escape, watching the wildlife drink from the watering hole, braai on the deck or just read a book with the sounds of nature all around you. With incredibly stylish interiors that include a wood burning stove, hardwood floors, comfy refined furnishings in a voluminous space that has an open, airy flow, as well as being perfectly equipped for self catering, The View is a statement of contemporary integration into a multifaceted, creative bush hideaway.
A stay at The View is rather like living atop an enormous look out point that offers you an everchanging live painting . On those hot summer days feel the lovely breeze on the top deck or cool down in the pool. Exploring the property by foot or on one of the three mountain bikes provided, either through the forests or up into the mountains. There is the option to visit the Marakele National Park and enjoy either guided or self-drives. The lovely owners of the lodge will gladly map out as many adventurous routes as you fancy, to explore the stunning scenery that surrounds, and mark off some spectacular look-out points for sundowners.
Evenings always begin with a salute to the sun, as you watch the animals drinking from their watering holes. As the night skies light up with the expansive blanket of stars, the nightjars start to signify nature’s clock with their song.
After an invigorating day of all that life in the bush brings, you’ll climb into bed once again and surrender to the stillness and the subtle sounds of the lion roaring in the distance, as you depict a picture of the new day that’s yet to unfold.
What we love!
- The views are absolutely spectacular, hence the name.
- Whilst the Marakele National Park are adjacent the property, there are a number of beautiful, scenic walks, hikes and runs to explore within the 70 hectares of Cypiro.
- There are three marked walking trails, although you are at liberty to walk freely, at your leisure and enjoy the beautiful view on any part of the property. Please keep in mind that you are in the bush though, the animals are wild and must be left alone, particularly when they have babies.
- Bring good walking shoes, comfortable socks and sunhats.
- With around 410 different bird species, the birdlife is prolific, including the largest colony of vultures that make for dramatic flights above the property.
What you need to know…
- The town of Thabazimbi is only 10 – 15 minutes away. It has sufficient shops and convenience stores for you to stock up on everything you’ll need for the duration of your stay.
- There is an additional fridge/freezer below deck.
- There is no defined garden at The View… your garden is the surrounding bush!
- This property is not advisable for young kids and crawling babies.
- When you’re home and the wind blows, you’ll feel it. Constructed of steel and glass, 3m from the ground, this hideaway also gets chatty!
- The main bedroom purposefully has no blinds to allow for incredible star-gazing. If you need to sleep in darkness, remember to pack your eye masks. The second bedroom does have blinds.
- One short game drive over the property is included just to see and enjoy the area, arranged ahead of arrival.
- You are welcome to arrange guided and self-drive game drives within the National Park, just a five-minute drive from the lodge.
- The owners have some very friendly dogs, and while they do their best to keep them close, they can be mischievous and guests might receive a warm welcome from them!
- If you’ve forgotten your bikes there are three mountain bikes available for those willing to push the adventure up the mountain a little further.
- The rental accommodation is self-catering with the aid of daily housekeeping to assist with all those chores we’d rather not bother with when on holiday. Extremely good catered options are available and delivered to you, however, these MUST be pre-booked at least two weeks prior to arrival, and are subject to availability. Please note there is NO RESTAURANT at Cypiro.
