Settled on the rolling dunes of Beachy Head, cushioned into the indigenous coastal vegetation, overlooking the endless body of blue, Spider’s Web snares you in its threads of beach bungalow bliss, and holds you captive for days, sometimes weeks, on end.
Not that you’ll be pleading for any release. It’s the layers of rich textures and soft neutral hues, reflecting those of Robberg’s serene environment that pacify you in to a succumbing state of rest. A lavish layout over three levels of living, dining, reclining and entertaining spaces, six ensuite bedrooms, long terraces and a back courtyard with a heated swimming pool, a state-of-the-art rotisserie braai and pizza oven, and ample languid seating areas – all tiered into the slopes of the garden that unravel to the shoreline – amplify those moments of rest. As well as inciting that resplendent Plett holiday vibe, that only those who are in the know, can describe.
It’s about waking up at your own leisurely pace and making your way down to the breakfast spread that’s portraying a beach house banquet. Whether you’ve opted to self-cater entirely, or employed the decadent skills of Spider’s Web’s local chef, the table is a vision of homemade muesli, fresh fruit and hot bakes, juices, smoothies and all of the brunch delights you can muster. Off for a long walk along the beach or paddle in the surf, a swim in the warm waves of the Indian Ocean or a slow snooze beside the pool. Whatever the weather, come early afternoon the fires will be lit for the next feasting and gathering around the tables, the living spaces and the bar. That Plett holiday vibe beginning to take hold of the itinerary as the gentle tunes coming from the SONOS surround sound system engulf the beautiful spaces of the home. With echoes of the waves constantly crashing onto the shore in the background. Some are reading, some are playing boardgames, whilst others are snacking from the harvest table of fresh baguettes and local cheeses. The perfect prelude to the dinner that will be served later in the evening, after another round of seaside escapades and perhaps a bike trip into nature. A round of golf or even a spot of Polo. If you decide to venture out with the clan, Plett’s diverse selection of eateries will see to the palates of every guest. Mostly, though, you’ll find yourselves entangled in the web of the home. Where you are inclined to optimise on the sublime, tranquil environment of each space. Quietly surrendering to be all caught up and satiably ensconced in its refined luxury. That’s just as homely as can be.
What we love!
- Witnessing the daily pod of dolphin swim past the property each morning around 10h00 and returning around 16h00. Then the whales popping up to signal their attendance. As if you have your very own oceanic display of the wildlife and their patterns.
- The interiors of Spider’s Web have been beautifully stitched together. With the use of both contemporary and repurposed materials, refined furnishings and rustic sentimental touches to tone down the opulence. Giving it that authentic beachy feel.
- Though all of the spaces are incredibly inviting – from the courtyard to the front lawn, the long terrace and all of the languid reclining spaces, the central living room is tranquil, cool and the perfect place to relax – whatever the weather is doing.
What you need to know…
- The property is fully-serviced with daily housekeeping from Monday to Friday. There is also the option of employing the services of the local chef that the owners of Spider’s Web love to have prepare their meals.
- The House Manager will also be able to arrange a baby-sitter should you need it, extra activities like yoga or excursions into nature.
- The property is very well situated, being close to the supermarkets, cafés and all amenities – everything you need is within walking distance. Your cars can remain parked.
- If you would like to fish for oysters and mussels you will need a license or permit secured prior to foraging.
