Towering above the town like a monolithic architectural masterpiece, emerging from the curves of Signal Hill, overlooking the sprawling terrain of the city’s urban landscape, the harbour and all the way out across the ocean, Hawk’s Eye wilfully whisks you away on its wings and out to sea on the Atlantic Seaboard.
Set on three levels of linear perfection – where an abundance of North-facing light permeates the open spaces, bouncing off every symmetrical surface of the off-shutter concrete, refined fittings, oak floors and glass balustrades – this hideaway is a contemporary reflection of its natural surroundings. An avant-garde approach to a conversation with its neighbouring dwellings, Hawk’s Eye absorbs the elements of the mountain and makes a bold statement on inimitable design. From the four ensuite bedrooms that are minimalistic yet sophisticated, to the lavish living, cooking, dining and entertaining spaces, the sporadic signature pieces of art and the pockets of sublime comfort that elevate the poise of each space even further. There’s a narrative to the considered layout of the home that speaks of contemporary distinction. Carried through to the outdoor spaces of the villa, too. The perfectly-sized infinity swimming pool, bordered by a lovely patio and expansive lawn that merges with the horizon. Just like you’re resting on those wings of the Atlantic Seaboard, basking in the sunshine whilst being engulfed by the magnificent views.
Days spent at Hawk’s Eye will mimic those of a hedonistic holiday in the heart of the Mother City. When you’re not swimming in the glorious pool, languidly lapping up the rays from the lawn and quenching an afternoon’s thirst for some decadent sundowners, you’ll be gathered around the tables or resting on the verandahs, the tranquil lounging spaces, and the dreamy bathtubs. With the city’s attractions being an easy drive away, or the abounding nature trails on the back doorstep, some of you will have your activity cups overflowing, in-between all of the hedonism at the hideaway. It’s state-of-the-art technology, built into the villa’s security, sound and lighting systems, holds you in the comforting embrace of Hawk’s Eye’s reassuring surveillance. With some decent holiday tunes carrying the ambience around the clock, too. It’s entirely up to you and your clan as to how you let your days unfold, but one thing that’s certain, that will be embossed into the memory montage of your stay, is the way the property so generously invites you in to a world of inspiration. A space of distinguished style that circulates in its refinery, and then whisks you out on its wings, with those eternal views.
What we love!
- It’s completely apparent that the owners have a flare for art, design, textures and tones. The property is minimalistic but every sculpture and piece of art has been placed with intention. Setting the perfect mood for the drama of the magnificent views that are holding themselves centre stage.
- The technology installed into the property has been considered on every level. A double click on the lights switch as you walk in to the entrance hall – which can also be modified at any lighting point – immediately sets the tone to an intimate atmosphere, around the whole property. With the SONOS surround sound system matching the mood.
- Al fresco dining beneath the pergola, embracing the mountain air, overlooking the lush green lawn, the swimming pool and those views of the ocean.
- Walking straight out of the back door and directly onto Signal Hill’s mountain trails for hiking, mountain biking or just a gentle amble through nature.
- The perfect positioning of the property with its North-facing light, spectacular views and seclusion from the south-easter blasts of wind that sporadically pummel the rest of the city.
What you need to know…
- There is a basement cellar that the owners have as their wine cellar, which can be used as a meeting or office space (if arranged prior).
- The patios are perfect sun traps for early morning yoga, meditation or just a hot brew with a good book.
- The property is located in the hills of Green Point, just a five-minute drive to all of the major convenience stores, lovely boutiques and bistros, and a swift drive to the city centre.
