A malaria-free, Big Five safari experience just two hours from Johannesburg
Black Rhino Game Reserve’s ten luxury lodges and exclusive-use bush houses are just over two hours’ drive from Lanseria Airport via Hartebeespoort Dam, making it an easy weekend or fun safari holiday destination. This secluded private concession is home to the Big Five and part of the 55 000ha Pilanesberg National Park. From the high lookout at Vulture’s Viewpoint, you get a superb bird’s eye view of the Pilanesberg, one of only three ring-dykes in the world. It looks like a volcano, but was formed by magma cooling under the ground before erupting, and then later collapsing in the centre, forming the Mankwe Dam seen today in the reserve.
