The cottage at Montpellier is a quiet hideaway like no other. Suitable for a couple (2 couples at most) and situated on a working Olive Farm, it is a serene and peaceful place to restore and recharge. The cottage is set into the rugged stones of the Drakenstein mountains and is is near to the village of Franschhoek (a mere 10 minute drive) famous for its haute cuisine, fine wines and galleries.
The cottage has unparalleled, 360 degree views of the breathtaking mountain surrounds with nothing but the occasional bird call to break the silence. Guests have the choice of having the cottage serviced or enjoying their stay completely uninterrupted.
Enjoy the intimate cottage and its round table for coffee with the first sunlight of the day on the east side and the south facing courtyard for al-fresco dining in the afternoon and evenings. The pool area and, in fact, the whole premises is afforded absolute privacy- perfect for a moonlit skinny dip or a little bronzage nue!
The quaint, fully equipped cottage boasts beautiful, stylish finishes and a distinctly colonial feel. The rooms are layered with textures, patterns and pieces lovingly collected from around the world. All doorways are arched and wooden shutters adorn every window. Fresh olive branches, laden with fruit- picked off the surrounding trees- decorate the sitting room and high ceilings give the white space an even lighter feeling, with exposed beams tying all the rooms together. The garden and plunge pool draw you outside in the Summer and keep you all day, and a larger than life fireplace promises warmth throughout the cottage in Winter.
Make the cottage your home base and return to it after a day out in Franschhoek, winding down the small lanes filled with petite cafes and coffee shops and visiting the wine estates and fine restaurants or after a day bike riding on the farm and stalking the peacocks through the manicured garden and maze of olive trees.
