If you’ve longed to experience the eerie mystery of Soussevlei, wish to be surrounded by silence and soak up solitude, to breathe in antiquity in a place of endless space – the Namib Desert is it. Should you wish to experience this in magnificent, understated luxury then Mountain View Suite at Wolwedans is calling your name.
Settled in a sea of red sand dunes and gasp-beautiful desert scenery, Mountain View Suite is truly like being on a different planet. While it’s walking distance from Wolwedans’ Desert Lodge, the Suite is orientated to enjoy expansive views over the valley and distant desert mountains. As far as you can see before you is unfettered space, as pure and magnificent as it was a million years ago.
Imagine waking up slowly as the Namibian sun dusts the dunes in shades of ochre. Then step onto your private deck and sip your morning coffee; now imagine the entire desert as far as your eyes can see is all yours. And it kind of is, while you are in residence. Because the Suite is an exclusive use space for just two people, what you do and when is entirely up to you. At your disposal is a private game-viewing vehicle and guide, and the Suite also has its own chef – who will craft decadent meals to your taste. There’s a spacious and relaxed lounge and living area here, along with a kitchen too.
By day there are plentiful options for activities that bring this unique and fragile environment to life. Consider scenic drives, morning and evening, to experience the moods of the desert, and maybe sundowners on the dunes. You can do a Bushman walk or ride an e-bike through pure red sand. Additional options include seeing the Namib from a hot-air balloon or on horseback, riding wild and free. Or kick back on the pool deck, take a dip it gets warm, sip a tipple and gaze out across foreverness. On summer nights the deck is ideal for safe sleep outs under the countless stars. What is guaranteed is that days and nights here will never be forgotten, for the sense of freedom and space couched in surreal beauty and understated luxury. It’s a feeling only truly found in deserts.
