Spacious seaside retreat in Plettenberg Bay
An expansive contemporary beach house overlooking the warm, blue waters of Plettenberg Bay, Iroko House is the epitome of opulence, encased in familial charm.
Each Plettenberg Bay property that we ardently get to know, lets us in on its little secrets, enthusiastically sharing its unique attributes with those that are lucky enough to occupy its spaces – just like Iroko House has. This home is a consciously considered work of architectural finesse; a minimalistic, spacial seaside mansion, that’s all-encompassing with its creature comforts and refined furnishings. Its tiered indigenous gardens are embedded into the build, framing the landscape that unravels from every viewpoint of the house. Its generous open spaces make way for all of the natural light that comes streaming in. Its open-plan living, dining, entertaining and reclining spaces stagger themselves around the three voluminous levels of timber and glass, allowing the views of the ocean, the beaches, the lagoon and the Tsitsikamma Mountains in the distance to make the boldest of statements. This Garden Route hideaway ticks everything off the beach holiday wish list and more.
Plettenberg Bay’s multigenerational gem close to Lookout and Central beach
A place for as many as twelve of you, welcoming those multigenerational gatherings beside the sea, Iroko House liberally shares its main ensuite and adjacent en-suite on the top level, and its two Queen-sized bedrooms and open bunk room on the lower level, for the whole clan to wrestle over. The swimming pool and ample deck areas, outdoor seating and dining spaces, little terraces and private patios allow for endless hours of sun basking or shade snoozing around the clock. The kitchen, being the pulse of the property, will have you cooking up one feast after the next. Spending those special holiday afternoons gathered around the tables and firmly planted on the chairs, taking in those views, breathing in that ocean air and listening to Iroko share all of her secrets during Plett’s best moments of the day.
When you’re not beside the pool or reclining in one of the dreamy spots around the house, you’ll amble down to either Central or Lookout beach – both about a six-minute walk away. Dipping in and out of the surf, heading to some of the town’s eateries, or tending to the occasional grocery chore – always more fun in a seaside village when you get to sample the salty air at the same time. Perhaps take in a round or two of golf on one of the courses or an early morning bike ride in the mountains, explore the wide range of hiking trails and horse riding in the hills. We know what Plett dishes up in abundance, but mostly you’ll be savouring those blissful beach holiday moments at home in the warm embrace of Iroko’s affection, leaving you with many happy memories of a blissful vacation along South Africa’s Garden Route.
What we love!
- Every room, on every floor, from every angle offers magnificent views of the ocean, the beaches and the mountains. The perfect positioning of the house also allows for absolute privacy, even though it sits within the hub of the town, with easy access down to the beaches.
- It’s a great home that was built for entertaining. The ground floor cooking and living areas are fabulous for the early morning coffee gatherings or evening dinners. All of the outdoor areas are well-connected spaces. Allowing a constant flow of indoor and outdoor living.
- Spending time up on the top deck, watching the sun setting behind the property, or around the fire pit in the evening, taking in the views of the landscape.
What you need to know…
- The property is located close to both Central and Lookout beaches. No more than six minutes from the shoreline. Plettenberg Bay Hotel is a swift walk down the hill. You’ll have easy access to all of the convenience stores of Plett, the village antics and Padel courts, forest routes for cyclists and Robberg Peninsula for hikers.
- The bunk room with an open-plan tv area is exposed and utilised more as a teenage pad – sleeps four in total. It leads out into the garden, allowing easy access directly to the pool. Perfect for the kids and their mates to hang out.
- Iroko House is ideal for those wanting to gather beside the sea and entertain with friends and family. Its kitchen is very well-equipped with state-of-the-art appliances, and personal bits and bobs that have been collected and sourced over the years. Adding personal touches and a sentimental tone to the home. So that though the luxury can be felt throughout – the finest quality bedding and highest grades of comfort – there’s a laidback feel to it, too.
