For the owner of One Beachy Head – who’s affection towards Plettenberg Bay can be written into the sands of the shoreline below his home – this part of the world is one that he finds near impossible to describe. “It’s a feeling, not a place.” An embedded familiarity and a new encounter simultaneously. Both nurturing and exhilarating. Upon discovering the breathtakingly beautiful, contemporary construct of One Beachy Head, where the views engulf from every angle of the property, there were more words to be said. “It’s a place where you can simply sit still, without having to utter a word.” In the perfect company of your most favourite people, you are at liberty to silently recline, basking in the beauty of the magnificent surroundings.
One Beachy Head’s location is the cream of the crop when it comes to Plett’s confectionary of beachfront bungalows. Sweeping views of the beaches, the lagoon, the Tsitsikamma forest, the mountains and all of the abounding nature make their way through the open spaces, occupying your gaze whichever way you look. Set on three voluminous levels of living, dining, lounging, sleeping and entertaining spaces – all perfectly tucked away from any prevailing wind – this hideaway holds you in her serene solitude yet gives you access to all of the energy and attractions of its area. Steps lead you down the hill to the beach that’s no more than a two-minute skip away. You’ll spend many of your holiday hours parading along the sand, the promenades, the strips of cafés and seafood eateries, swimming in the surf and doing all of the things that we all do best in Plett. But for most of it, you’ll be more inclined to spend time on the mammoth decks, letting the good life unravel. Watching the water sports, the waves, the ocean wildlife, the sunsets and the night’s stars from your own abode of sheer indulgence.
Not only are the four ensuite rooms with their views and outdoor spaces reflective of a six-star resort, but the fine trimmings and furnishings are as refined as a Plett Palais, where luxury knows no bounds. The Calacatta marble sourced from the Italian Alps sets the tone in the kitchen. Together with the state-of-the-art Siemens and Liebherr appliances. The French Oak flooring and Balau decking. The meticulously curated interior furnishings, Spanish ceramic tiles, French and Belgian linen, fireplaces aplenty, free-standing bathtubs and Italian Grigio bathroom marble, motorised Silent Gliss blinds and surround sound devices take this hideaway from cream to caviar of the crops. Where you and your clan will be so satiated by the calm and the comforts of the home, the ambience of its surroundings and sheer volume of its ample space, you’ll be inclined to do as the owners do and simply sit still. Taking in the magic of the feeling of a place that can only really be understood when you are there.
What we love!
- The security of the estate that this home sits within, allowing you to feel footloose and fancy-free for the duration of your stay, every hour of the day.
- Whichever room you are in and whichever way you are gazing out, the views are sensational.
- The feeling of being secluded in a luxurious estate, yet having access to all of the activities that Plettenberg Bay has to offer. Everything you need is within reach.
What you need to know…
- Whatever the weather, there are plenty of lovely spots around the home to make the most of the warmth, take respite from the heat, shelter from the wind or the rain, and allow the magnificent views to envelope you throughout the year.
- Though the property is built with a contemporary flare, the laidback feel is achieved with quality furnishings, neutral artwork, layers of textures and tones.
- The wonderful thing about a beach holiday is not having to leave the property by vehicle, unless for a daily excursion into the wilderness of the area. There are a number of activities to do in and around Plett, but should you wish to leave the keys on the hook and the car permanently parked, all you have to do is walk.
