A busy hub, Thabazimbi is in the heart of the Limpopo’s wildlife, farming and mining regions. Often the last stop for supplies en-route to the bush for a safari weekend, this little town – named ‘mountain of iron’ by the locals and famous for its iron mines is an example of how South Africa’s game reserves, National Parks, farms and mines co-exist today. Once through the town, the road very quickly gives way to wild African bushveld and the impressive, towering peaks of the Marakele.
