This house on a hill in one of Cape Town’s most prized suburbs, Higgovale, oozes effortless 21st century cool. It’s all about a little bit of mid century and a lot of modern in this architect-designed space which boasts three storeys of forest, mountain and city views with equally eye-catching interiors to match. While designer it may be (you’ll love the mix of industrial black lines and wood to warm things up) – this is also a supremely family-friendly and entertaining-centric space. There are five generous bedrooms with a comfy and cozy pyjama lounge on the entrance level and a spacious open plan living and entertainment level above – here you’ll find a wonderful mix of sleek, designer style and plenty of pieces by top notch South African furniture creatives and artists, coupled with extreme easy living elements – like the indoor outdoor bar that’s perfect for breakfast but ideal for sundowner cocktails too.
You’ll also love the nods to nature that were a major factor in the design of the home – be it in the fact that you can access the slopes of Table Mountain directly from the property or that the top floor is devoted to a custom designed roof garden with arguably one of the best views of the city. What’s wonderful about staying at Higgo Road is the fact that you have the city quite literally at your feet (the hip hubs of Kloof and Bree Streets are five minutes drive away) yet you can hop on over to Camps Bay and Clifton beaches and be on the beach in fifteen minutes. Although since there’s a pool and Uber Eats is a popular convenience in the pretty City, you could just stay put and revel in your experience of this five-star oasis of cool, contemporary calm.
